Put on your own mask first
If you’ve ever flown on a plane, you’ll know the first thing they tell you is, that if there’s an emergency, to put your own mask on first!
You can’t help others, if you run out of air.
This reflects directly on those who are thinking of starting martial arts, getting themselves in shape, or making a life change.
Being healthy is paramount to all things in life, being in great shape both mentally and physically should be a priority. Remember, you can’t help others if you are incapable yourself.
Want to provide for the family? So, we go all out, go to work, do overtime, pay all the bills. But what if you get sick, what if your body is so out of shape you get an illness related to being, out of shape, how about diabetes, heart failure or something directly related to you being overweight, out of shape?
I can’t think of one good thing that being out of shape and unhealthy brings.
This is not even touching on your mental stability, try doing everything for someone else, all the while neglecting the YOU time, time for the things that you have passion for?
Then there’s stress, nothing smashes stress like feeling positive about yourself and smashing a good workout.
So, I guess putting on your own mask first, really does hold true.
Your body is what provides for the family and pays the bills, make sure you keep it in top shape, so it can keep running at top speed.
At Icon Martial Arts in Norwich, we realise the importance of putting that mask on first and created a unique, programme that works with those, who have got stuck without their masks on.
